Find a D365 Project Manager

Sound familiar?

Milestones are slipping and nobody is calling it out early enough

The partner runs the project meetings — but who is protecting your interests?

Change requests keep arriving with no structured process to manage them

UAT, training, and cutover are being left too late in the plan

What a D365 Project Manager Does for You

Before Exploring & Planning
  • Building detailed project plans, milestone schedules, and resource plans
  • Identifying skill gaps and bandwidth constraints before the build starts
  • Setting up project governance, reporting cadence, and RAID logs
  • Writing the project initiation document and defining ways of working
During Implementation
  • Running daily standups, sprint reviews, and steering committee updates
  • Tracking progress against plan and escalating slippage before it cascades
  • Managing change requests, scope boundaries, and budget burn rate
  • Coordinating UAT scheduling, training plans, and cutover readiness
  • Keeping the partner honest on deliverable quality and timelines
After Post Go-Live
  • Managing the transition from project delivery to business-as-usual
  • Closing out open actions, lessons learned, and project documentation
  • Supporting Phase 2 scoping, planning, and resource estimation
  • Running a post-implementation review to capture what worked and what didn’t

Frequently Asked Questions

Do we need a Project Manager if our partner already provides one?

Your partner’s PM works for the partner. Their priorities are shaped by the partner’s commercial interests. An independent Project Manager works for you. They track the partner’s commitments, manage your internal stakeholders, and make sure decisions serve your project, not the firm’s.

What D365-specific experience should a Project Manager have?

Ideally, your PM has delivered at least 2–3 full-cycle D365 implementations with the system you are working with. They should understand the typical project phases, the risks specific to D365 rollouts (data migration, UAT, cutover), and how to manage a Microsoft partner relationship effectively. As well as keeping everyone involved fully accountable to what needs to be done.

How do you vet your Project Managers?

Every contractor in the D365Contractors community has been independently verified with real D365 delivery experience. We confirm project history, collect professional references, and conduct a screening interview. No contractor joins the community based on a resume alone.

Can a Project Manager work part-time on our program?

Yes. Many of our contractors work on a fractional basis — particularly during the planning and post go-live phases where full-time commitment is not required. We’ll match you with someone whose availability fits your project stage and intensity.
